Description

►Standard Protection Chin Guard NEW IMPROVED! :

Our newest design covers more area, is lighter, and easier to install. The latest improved Prowler heavy-duty chin scratch guard is a stainless-steel plate specifically designed to fit the underside of the Prowler’s molded nose. This plate does not affect ground clearance and is not visible while standing and looking at the Prowler’s front end.

Heavy-duty rivets hold the two units together and will wear before the plate guard gets scratched.

This device mounts under the front end of your Prowler. It is attached by drilling five tiny holes under the front end and securing it with screws. Additionally, it is reinforced with automotive 3M double-sided tape.

►Extra Protection – Optional

This adds over an inch of extra protection that goes higher on the Prowler’s nose. It is slightly visible when standing and looking at the car. It is excellent for drivers who are a little rougher. It must be used in conjunction with the standard protection. Yes, you can add it if you already own the standard protection chin guard, or add it to the standard chin guard at a later time. (It is not designed to be mounted alone.)

Easy mounting. All mounting hardware is included. Will not rust, stain, or corrode.

Will not come off on the road, even due to vibration or potholes.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Included:

1 x Stainless Steel Chin Guard

5 x ¾ washer head style sheet metal screws

5 x Flat nuts

1 x Packet of adhesive promoter

The Prowler Chin Guard is an ingenious way for any Prowler owner to protect the chin from rupture or abrasion due to parking lot curbs and road debris.

1. The first step is to jack up the front of your Prowler and set a jack stand for safety on each front wheel. Then, prepare the painted surface under your chin by thoroughly scrubbing the chin area with alcohol to remove all road grime and dirt, leaving a clean and smooth surface.

To test, stick several lengths of masking tape where you will be mounting your chin guard. You want to see if the tape sticks well to the painted surface. If it does, remove the masking tape and move to the next step. If it does not stick well, re-clean the surface until it does.

2. Your chin guard is designed to self-stick as well as use screws. Before attaching anything, set the part into position to familiarize yourself with how it is intended to fit. The part will contour to the three-dimensional shape of the Prowler’s chin and may require you to hand-form the part to achieve the correct shape. Hold the part up to where it will mount. It should fit snugly along the body curves. If not, hand-bend it until it does.

3. Open the packet of promoter you received with your part. Take out the moistened towelette and wipe the entire area where you will be mounting your chin guard. This clear liquid will not harm your paint or your hands. It simply prepares the surface for a good bond.

4. Once you are confident of how the part will fit, peel the rear red release liner off. Set the rear section right along the back edge of the chin (see Diagram B) and press firmly — ONLY along the back stainless strip — to set. DO NOT attach the front stainless strip yet (see Diagram A).

At this point, the two outer edges will protrude out to the sides. This is normal. You have been supplied with five washer head screws and five flat nuts. Install the two inner back screws first (see Diagram D). Using a hand drill, install the two screws and place the flat nuts onto the ends of the two screws behind the front chin area.

5. Force the two outer edges of the cover so that the seam between the outer and inner strips butt up to each other (see Diagram A). Press very firmly to set the part to the chin and then install the next two back screws and flat nuts.

6. At this point, the cover should have a snug fit all around except at the very front point of the cover. Typically, there will be a small gap here that will be taken up by the last forward screw and flat nut. This is the final step of the installation.

Prowler Fender Stainless Steel “Extra” Chin Guard Protection
PART# ACC-822059

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions for the installation of the Plymouth Prowler chin guard extension.

Liner info: Your new accessory comes with a blue protective surface liner. Do not remove this liner until instructed.

Parts list:

1 x Stainless steel chin guard

1 x Packet of adhesive promoter

2 x Washer head style screws

2 x Flat nuts

Need: Drill and bit

This Prowler chin guard extension has been designed as an add-on section to the ACC-822055 standard Prowler chin guard. It is not designed to be installed by itself.

This section offers additional protection beyond the original bumper chin guard. It will be slightly more noticeable.

1. Thoroughly scrub and clean any road grime, dirt, and wax from the painted area just in front of the existing chin guard.

Apply masking tape to the area to check if the tape sticks properly. If it does not, re-clean the area until it does.

2. Once you have cleaned the area well, wipe it with the adhesive promoter provided. This chemical is not a cleaner but an adhesive primer and must be used as such to achieve a strong, long-term bond.

Remove the two outer screws and flat nuts securing the two outer corners of the existing ACC chin guard and set them aside.

3. Before removing the rear protective cover from the tape and permanently attaching the part, place it into position to familiarize yourself with how it is intended to be installed.

Shape the section by hand to ensure it contours correctly to the chin of your Prowler. Although the section comes with pre-formed mounting tabs, hand-shaping may be necessary for a perfect fit. The section has been designed to wrap around the chin, allowing it to conform closely to the Prowler’s chin for a snug fit with no gaps. A properly set section will have no buckles or gaps and will be permanently attached, offering stable and effective additional protection.

Once you are satisfied with the fit, remove the red release liner from the back of the section and stick the section over the two front holes in the existing chin guard. Peel back a portion of the blue protective liner to expose the two holes at the center tab. Using the two washer head screws provided, self-tap them directly into the two holes while placing the flat nuts on the inner side of the chin. Because the chin of the Prowler is made of relatively soft material, the flat nuts must be used to secure the section properly.

Wrap the stainless steel section around to the outer holes that were exposed earlier and align them. Reinstall the screws and flat nuts on both sides. Then remove the rest of the protective liner.
